OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ An escaped convict from Nebraska was apprehended Thursday after a 10-minute police chase through Oklahoma City.

Tony Callan, 22, was taken into police custody after leading authorities on a high speed chase.

Driving a stolen Dodge Neon, Callan careened around semitrailers and vehicles as police pursued him.

Callan escaped from a Nebraska county jail Tuesday. Nebraska police had conducted a manhunt, but believed Callan was headed to Oklahoma to visit family.

The chase began on Interstate 35 shortly after 3 p.m. CDT when police noticed the car with Nebraska plates that had been reported stolen.

Callan led police through service roads before finally stopping on a northwest Oklahoma City city street.

Callan sideswiped a minivan as he sped down one street. Police in pursuit had rammed the car. No injuries were reported.

Police say Callan may have had materials to make methamphetamines in the car.

Callan had been arrested in Nebraska on July 27 in a stolen car with Utah plates. Before his arrest Callan led authorities on a chase that reached speeds up to 150 mph, police said. It ended when his stolen car rolled while turning onto a county road.

Callan was arraigned in a Nebraska district court on charges of theft by receiving stolen property and using a vehicle to avoid arrest. He also was wanted on a variety of charges from other states, officials said.
