(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The attorney for Oklahoma City bombing conspirator Terry Nichols says he needs more money for his client's legal costs.

Defense attorney Brian Hermanson told the state Supreme Court Thursday Nichols won't get a fair trial without more money for legal costs.

Hermanson's request comes one day after the judge in Nichols' case stopped proceedings until it can be determined when and how Nichols' legal bills will be paid.

Hermanson wants the Oklahoma County Court Fund Board to pay almost a year's worth of unpaid legal bills.

The board has already paid one-point-seven million dollars for Nichols' defense.
