Tulsa - Two-time All-American Johna Dodson scored a 1-up, 19th-hole victory over Stephanie Ruiz to take the women's state amateur golf championship.
Dodson, of Southern Nazarene, birdied on the par-5 first hole of a sudden death playoff for yesterday's championship at Tulsa's Southern Hills Country Club.
Ruiz -- the 2001 state high school champ at Edmond Memorial -- had a three-hole lead at the turn. She three-putted the tenth hole, then watched as Dodson birdied four of the next six holes to grab the lead.
Ruiz won the 17th hole when Dodson, of Duncan, hit a driver through the fairway into a creek. Both players made par on 18, with Ruiz watching a 12-footer to win curl to the left.
