(Tulsa-AP) -- Williams Companies says it's considering selling its Midwest natural gas pipeline as part of an effort to improve company finances.
The Tulsa-based company says several companies have shown an interest in the six-thousand mile pipeline system. The pipeline carries natural gas from Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Wyoming and Colorado to customers in the Midwest.
Williams is trying to reduce its debt by about eight (b) billion dollars by selling assets and cutting spending. The moves come as analysts and investors look at the debt of energy companies following the collapse of Enron Corporation.
