The Tulsa Police Department is stepping up its efforts to keep us safe over the holiday weekend.
Extra officers will be out this holiday weekend patrolling Tulsa streets for reckless and drunk drivers. Officers will be on the look out for any aggressive behavior like driving too fast or cutting in an out of lanes.
They say they're not trying to ruin your holiday with a ticket. They just want to make sure drivers are following the laws. And they want to minimize the chances of accidents. Tulsa Police officer Stephen Florea, "I would hope that it would act as a deterrent I would like to think that we're doing something proactive to eliminate something before it happens."
Tulsa Police would also like to remind everyone to buckle up.
