While the future of WorldCom is up in the air, one thing is certain for an estimated 330 people who worked at the Tulsa WorldCom facility... They will now have to look for work. Even with the news, several laid-off worldcom employees are understanding of WorldCom's decision. While federal investigators look into WorldCom's accounting practices thousands of people, some of them here in Tulsa, are out of a job today. The Company moved ahead with layoffs Friday and forward toward possible bankruptcy. While workers in Tulsa and at other Worldcom facilities, toted boxes to their cars after their layoffs, federal investigators began looking at WorldCom's accounting practices in which 3-8 billion dollars was moved around on its books. WorldCom's former chief executive and its former accountant Arthur Andersen are under a restraining order not to destroy documents related to its financial reports.
