NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ A 26-year-old Oklahoma City man drowned Sunday while swimming at Lake Thunderbird, authorities said.
Jeremy Mildurn Reames was swimming in 11 feet of water at Little Sandy Swim Area when he asked for help, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said. Reames resurfaced only once after going under water about 11 a.m., troopers said.
Authorities recovered his body about 2 p.m.
Seven hours after Reames' death, another Oklahoma City man nearly drowned at the same swimming area, the patrol said.
Robert Van Berna, 25, also was swimming in 11 feet of water when he went under the surface just after 6 p.m. He was rescued by another swimmer, who performed CPR until medical help arrived.
Van Berna was taken to Norman Regional Hospital where he was in critical condition late Sunday.
