(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The author of a parental notification abortion law wants the attorney general to appeal a ruling striking down the law.
Federal Judge Claire Eagan says the law is unconstitutionally vague and fails to follow guidelines of the U-S Supreme Court. She also says the law doesn't provide an exception in case of medical emergency.
State Senator Scott Pruitt says he's disappointed with the ruling and wants state Attorney General Drew Edmondson to appeal.
Supporters of the law say it doesn't prohibit abortions for minors, a doctor who performs such an abortion without parental consent would be liable for future medical treatment.
A spokesman for the attorney general says the judge's ruling is still under review.
