Governor Frank Keating is taking a lead role in solving the Catholic Church's sex abuse scandal
He's back in Oklahoma after spending last week with the nation's Roman Catholic bishops in Dallas where he was selected to chair an oversight committee.
Before becoming governor of Oklahoma Keating was a federal prosecutor.
He says part of his new role could be to aid in bringing abusive clergy to justice.
Next week he will meet with other members of his committee at the state capitol to discuss the newly-created Office of Child and Youth Protection.
"The challenge is to have a committe, a commission of highly gifted, but also faithful tough tenacious men and women willing to do it."
Keating says he would consider calling for the resignation of church leaders who fail to comply with the new policy.
