As the school year draws to a close, one area school district is taking time out to say thanks.

Monday in Broken Arrow - they are kicking off a week-long celebration of teachers. The PTA is sponsoring Teacher Appreciation Week to recognize the district's nearly 1000 teachers.

Along with programs like one at Rhoades Elementary, Broken Arrow's also sporting some new decorations. Karyne Gates, Principal: "They represent, throughout Broken Arrow the importance of teachers. They wanted them treated like royalty. That they're very important to the district and our children."

The purple ribbons are not just at the schools, but all along Main Street to show appreciation for Broken Arrow teachers.
