ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) _ Texas Rangers catcher Ivan Rodriguez did not start Monday night's game against the Seattle Mariners due to muscle spasms in his lower back.

Bill Haselman replaced Rodriguez, the AL starter in each of the last nine All-Star games and winner of 10 straight Gold Gloves. The Rangers said Rodriguez was day to day.

Injuries limited Rodriguez to 111 games last season and 91 in 2000.
