People opposed to a city plan to close several pools in North Tulsa are making themselves heard.
A standing room only crowd turned out to speak before the Tulsa city council Thursday night. The city plans to not open five pools in North Tulsa this summer because of budget problems.
The pools were chosen based on which ones were in the worst shape and had the fewest customers. But many people in North Tulsa believe they're being unfairly singled out. North Tulsa resident Jack Henderson, "I propose if the city is hurting that bad for money, let's close every pool in Tulsa. All of them!"
A representative for Mayor Bill LaFortune says the new mayor is working to come up with ways to keep the pools open. One idea would be to get help from the private sector.
