(Dublin, Ohio-AP) -- Former Oklahoma State golfer Scott Verplank is tied for the lead heading into today's second round at the Memorial tournament.

Verplank is tied with Chris Smith at 6-under par. Both men shot a 66 yesterday and lead the field by a stroke.

Verplank had a chance to take the outright lead with a 20 footer for birdie on the 18th hole. But he left it a few inches short and settled for a round that included eight birdies and two bogeys.
