(Norman-AP) -- The Oklahoma women's basketball program has a new addition.

O-U head coach Sherri Coale has announced the hiring of Stacy Hansmeyer.

Hansmeyer graduated from Norman High School and played on Connecticut's national championship team.

She was a four-year letter-winner for the Huskies and spent last season as a student assistant.

Hansmeyer calls Coale a role model and says the job with the Sooners is a dream come true.

Hansmeyer led Norman to a 27-and-1 record and the state class Six-A title in 1996.
