A 23-year-old Broken Arrow man could now face a murder charge over the death of a child in his care. The unidentified 3-year-old boy died early Saturday.

The child was taken by helicopter to a Tulsa hospital Thursday with internal injuries that authorities believe were caused by blunt trauma. After an investigation, Broken Arrow Police arrested Mark Gonzalez on complaints of injury to a minor child. Detective Sgt. Heath Arning says their department will now amend the previously presented information to the Tulsa County DA's office and recommend a charge of murder be filed.

On Thursday, Police were called to a home in reference to an injury to a minor child. Gonzalez was arrested following questioning by Broken Arrow Police. Police say Gonzalez was caring for the boy at the time.
