TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ Tulsa Mayor Susan Savage will not seek re-election to the job she has held longer than anyone in the city's history, a city spokesman said Thursday.

Savage called a noon news conference to announce her plans. Spokesman Jim East confirmed reports that she does not intend to seek re-election when her current term expires in 2002.

Savage, a Democrat, succeeded Rodger Randle who resigned in 1992. She then beat 53 opponents in a special election for the unexpired term. She was re-elected in 1994 and 1998.
