(Springfield-AP) -- Missouri State House Speaker Jim Kreider says the proposal is dead to offer state money for a new St. Louis baseball stadium.
Governor Holden has said he does not like the overall proposal in its current form. But his staff has been negotiating with Cardinal officials and with the staff of St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay to craft a compromise.
Still, Kreider today said he doesn't think there's support for it in the Legislature. Mostly, the Ozark Democrat says there's not enough money to put toward a new stadium.
Kreider also says it appears St. Louis residents are against the proposal to replace Busch Stadium. But in an interview this morning, Kreider said, ``It doesn't look too good for the Cardinals.''
