The Miami Dolphins select Oklahoma's Josh Heupel in the sixth round of the NFL Draft. Heupel was the 177th pick overall.

He threw for 3,392 yards and 20 TDs last season, becoming a Heisman Trophy finalist and The Associated Press player of the year.

He was particularly impressive during the October stretch, when Oklahoma beat teams that at the time were ranked 11th, 2nd and 1st. The left-hander from Aberdeen, South Dakota, completed 280 of 433 passes, and ran for six scores.

Heupel was the second Oklahoma player drafted for the NFL. The Green Bay Packers took Torrance Marshall in the third round of the draft as the 72nd overall pick. Marshall was team captain of the 2000 national champion Sooners.
