There are many options to dial for directory assistance these days...and it can be an annoying when the operator gives you the wrong number.
It's happening more often. The Telecommunications Research and Action Center tracks phone companies and says operators give out more than a million wrong numbers each day.
The reason - many phone companies are contracting their operator services to out of state companies.
If you get a wrong number - AND had to pay for it, call that phone company and ask for a credit.
You can also find most phone numbers on the internet - for free.
