(Lincoln, Nebraska-AP) -- The Nebraska Cornhuskers will be adding a 12th game to the 2001 football season.
An official announcement is still to come and some details must be completed, but Nebraska has agreed to play T-C-U in the Pigskin Classic football game.
An official announcement could come today. The nationally televised game is scheduled for August 25th at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska.
T-C-U finished the 2000 season ranked 21st in The Associated Press poll after a 28-to-21 bowl loss to Southern Mississippi. The Horned Frogs finished ten-and-two, but Heisman Trophy candidate LaDanian Tomlinson and coach Dennis Franchione have departed. Tomlinson has completed his eligibility, and Franchione is the new head coach at Alabama.
It was Franchione who got T-C-U out of scheduled games with Nebraska in Lincoln in the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
