STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -- A Ponca City man was killed Tuesday when a train plowed into the tractor-trailer he was driving at a crossing in rural Noble County.
Brandon D. Hunt, 26, was trapped in the vehicle for 45 minutes before being freed, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said he was transported to Stillwater Medical Center and pronounced dead from massive injuries.
According to an OHP report, the crossing gates were down and the lights were flashing at the railroad crossing, but Hunt failed to yield. The delivery truck he was driving was hit in the driver's side door.
The accident happened near the intersection of U.S. 177 and U.S.
64, north of Stillwater.
The Burlington Northern train consisted of three locomotives and 81 cars. None of the train's crew was injured.
