Teen-ager faces murder charge in shooting death of her mother

(Stillwater-AP) -- A 16-year-old Stillwater girl has been charged with first-degree murder for the shooting death of her mother.

District Attorney Rob Hudson says the girl has been charged as an adult in the case, but defense attorneys could still contest whether she is tried as one.

The girl is accused of shooting Lucille Nguyen in their home near Glencoe early Friday.

Court documents show the girl called her boyfriend and told him she was fighting with her mother. The boyfriend then told police he heard what sounded like a gunshot.

The girl is in jail without bail.
