(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma County residents who need assistance after storms and flooding hit the state in October have about one week left to apply.

State officials say special unemployment benefits are available to those who were left out of work as a direct result of the natural disaster.

The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission says that to be eligible a person must have been left jobless as a result of the storms of October 21st through 29th. Applicants also had to have been living or working in the county at the time of the disaster.

The O-E-S-C says a 30-day application period will end on January 17th. To file an application for Disaster Unemployment Assistance, call (405) 525-1500.
