(Jay-AP) -- A man accused of kidnapping and torturing a Grove woman for more than a week is now formally charged with seven felonies.

Terry Dale Ramsey faces charges that include assault with intent to kill, forcible sodomy and kidnapping. He remains jailed in lieu of two-and-three-quarter (m) million dollars bond.

Prosecutors say Ramsey shot the woman with a handgun, set her on fire, choked her and beat her with hoses, clubs and his fists.

The woman was reportedly taken from her home in Grove on December 14th and held until she was able to escape to a neighbor's house for help. She has since been released from a Grove hospital.
