(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Senate Majority Whip Don Nickles says Governor Keating would be easily confirmed if he's nominated for U-S attorney general.
Nickles, an Oklahoma Republican, says he hopes President-elect George W. Bush appoints the Oklahoma governor to his cabinet.
Nickles says Keating would by overwhelmingly confirmed by legislators.
Governor Keating says he's not waiting by the telephone for a presidential appointment.
The 56-year-old Oklahoma governor says he has not talked to Bush about the job. He says he is a friend of Bush, but not a confidant. And, Keating figures the Texas governor may have someone else in mind.
Keating held high-ranking jobs in the Justice Department and Housing and Urban Development under Presidents Reagan and Bush.
