(Stillwater-AP) -- Oklahoma State University is one of only five universities in the country to receive the designation of Truman Scholarship Honor Institution.

O-S-U joins the ranks of such elite schools as Yale, Harvard and Duke in receiving the honor from the Harry Truman Scholarship Foundation.

The honor is expected to be presented to O-S-U officials Friday in a ceremony in Stillwater.

OSU has had ten Truman scholars in the school's 110-year history. Six have been chosen since 1994.

The Truman Scholarship is one of the most prestigious undergraduate awards in the country. Only one is given per state and O-S-U has won the last six in Oklahoma.

The 30-thousand dollar scholarship is given to students who want to pursue a career in government or public service.
