(Manasquan-AP) -- Jack Nicholson's high school plans to dedicate its auditorium after the 1954 graduate.

The actor led girlfriend Lara Flynn Boyle on a tour of Manasquan High School last week.

School officials tell the Asbury Park Press Nicholson was quite flattered by the idea of the Jack Nicholson Theater. Officials are hoping to persuade the actor to return for the ceremony later in the school year.

Each year, the school presents the Jack Nicholson Drama Achievement Award to the student who did the most for the drama club.

And Nicholson's photo is placed on the set of every play that the drama department has presented since the mid-1980s.
