(Stillwater-AP) -- Former Oklahoma State coach Pat Jones says Mike Gundy would be a great choice as O-S-U's new coach.

Gundy is one of the names being mentioned for the job.

He has no head coaching experience, and he hasn't been part of a successful staffs as an assistant coach.

Jones says hiring Gundy would be a gutsy move by athletic director Terry Don Phillips. But he says it would be a brilliant move.

Jones says Gundy always had something special about him as a player and as an O-S-U assistant coach.

And he says Gundy has the energy needed to do the job right.
