(Tulsa-AP) -- Western Michigan head football coach Gary Darnell has met with Oklahoma State athletic director Terry Don Phillips about the O-S-U head coaching job.
Darnell is a former Cowboy player and assistant coach. He's considered one of the top three candidates to succeed Bob Simmons, who is resigning at the end of the season.
Darnell acknowledged on Saturday that there is some interest, but says Western Michigan is still the most important thing on his mind.
The Broncos clinched the Mid-America Conference West Division championship on Saturday and will play Marshall in the M-A-C title game on December Second.
Darnell has also been mentioned as a candidate at Rutgers, and could be a candidate at Virginia Tech if coach Frank Beamer is hired by Alabama.
Phillips is also believed to be preparing to meet with Dallas Cowboys tight ends coach Les Miles and Boise State head coach Kirk Koetter.
