(Okmulgee-AP) -- The process is underway to retry a man who last month had two life prison sentences reversed and two murder charges against him dropped.
Sherman Nathaniel Brown was found guilty of murdering his convenience store supervisor and another man at an Okmulgee service station a few days later.
Brown also was convicted of two counts of robbery with a firearm. He was sentenced to two life-without-parole terms for the murders.
But last month the Court of Criminal Appeals said the murders should have been handled in separate trials since there was no evidence the two robbery-homicides were connected.
Prosecutors today filed amended information against Brown and split the cases. He is charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a weapon in connection with both victims.
The District Attorney's Office also refiled for the death penalty. The jury the death penalty in the first trial.
