As Saturday Night Live sets the tone for its 26th season, a new chapter is being written into the book of "Weekend Update."
After 2 1/2 excruciating seasons, Colin Quinn is out as anchorman of SNL's anchor-sketch. In fact, having achieved the seemingly impossible feat of topping (or bottoming) Kevin Nealon as the worst Update anchorman ever, it seems the only place left for Mr. Quinn to go was out the door. He is no longer a cast member.
Replacing him is the man-woman/point-counterpoint team of Jimmy Fallon (who is being positioned as the show's next breakout star) and Tina Fey (who hasn't made it from "featured player" to "cast member," but she did have most of the funniest lines during the Oct. 7 premiere).
