(Muskogee-AP) -- A Talihina man has been given a 20-year prison sentence for a sexual assault conviction.
28-year-old Alexander Choate was sentenced Thursday in U-S District Court in Muskogee. He was indicted in December and pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated sexual assault in Indian country.
Choate is Choctaw.
Choate said during a plea hearing that he followed the victim home from her job, broke into her home and raped her. He left his keys in the house and broke in again to get them -- that's when the woman hit him in the head with a skillet. Choate then choked the victim.
