(Poteau-AP) -- Your vote can make the difference.

LeFlore County Sheriff Kendall Ballew has apparently won re-election by a single vote out of nearly seven thousand that were cast.

The final tally, 3,378 for Ballew, 3,377 for challenger Roy D. Gentry.

Oklahoma Election Board Secretary Lance Ward says he knows of no other single-vote margin of victory. The closest he can find is a 20-vote win by Tom Cole over Marilyn Pryor in a 1990 state senate race.

Gentry says he will pay for a recount, which is scheduled for next Tuesday at the LeFlore County Courthouse.

Gentry has to put up about 12-hundred dollars for the recount.

If he loses, the money will be used to pay expenses related to the recount.

If he wins, the money will be refunded.
