(Stillwater-AP) -- Oklahoma State baseball coach Tom Holliday welcomes 25 newcomers to the Cowboy baseball team as he gets ready for the start of fall practice Monday.

The 12 freshmen and 13 transfers include Jose Virgil, son of former major leaguer Ozzie Virgil, and junior college All-Americans Jake Bollig from Connors State and Paul Powell from Seminole State.

Another transfer is second baseman Zach Cates, a 29th-round draft choice of the Los Angeles Dodgers who decided to continue his collegiate career instead.

Among the returnees is Darren Heal, who is expected to fill the role of closer after spending most of his time as a catcher last year.

Heal was an eleventh-round draft pick of the Baltimore Orioles who decided to return to OSU for his senior season.
