(Tulsa-AP) -- Tulsa football coach Keith Burns says his first win as a head coach Saturday was great -- but mostly for his players.

The 23-16 victory over Rice gave the Golden Hurricane their first win after losses against North Carolina and Oklahoma State.

He says the win was key for the confidence of his players, who he says have done everything he's asked since he took over at Tulsa in December.

But Burns and his players are already done dwelling on the win.

They face a Louisiana Tech team that will be looking for its 500th win Saturday.

Louisiana Tech also is set to join the Western Athletic Conference next season, and Burns says his team will be treating the upcoming matchup as a conference game.
