(Tulsa-AP) -- A multimillion renovation project will give Tulsa International Airport a makeover just in time to greet thousands of people expected at the U-S Open in June.
Officials say the airport terminal will be dressed in new landscaping, wall coverings, artwork, terrazzo-tiled flooring and a fabric canopy similar to one at Denver International Airport. The overhaul is expected to be completed in May.
The 20-point-four (M) million dollar renovation is part 50 (M) million dollars in airfield and terminal projects now in progress.
The projects are being funded by a combination of a three-dollar per passenger charge on airline tickets, revenue bonds and federal grants.
Airport trustees hope the renovations will spur increased passenger traffic, air service and revenue.
