TULSA, Okla.(AP) The death of a 4-year-old boy early Thursday led to the arrest of a Glenpool man who was babysitting the child along with four others.
Police arrested Steven Scott Farrell, 32, around 5 a.m. "from the evidence at the scene and his statements" in the death of Seth Michael Saucier, Officer Lucky Lamons said.
Lamons said Farrell was caring for girlfriend Susan Reaves' five children while she went to work at her job as a bartender. Around 1 a.m., Farrell called Reaves and said she needed to come home, Lamons said.
"He didn't say why. He just said, `You need to come home,' " he said.
Because she was working, Reaves instead sent another man to her house. He was met by Farrell who allegedly told him, "I think he's dead," Lamons said.
The man found Seth in a back bedroom and attempted to resuscitate him. Paramedics pronounced the boy dead at the scene.
Seth's sisters, ages 6, 8, 9 and 10, were placed in protective custody because their mother was too distraught to care for them, Lamons said.
The cause of the boy's death has not been determined. He was the fourth child to be killed in Tulsa this year.
