(Tahlequah-AP) -- The parents of a boy whose fingers were broken at day care say they feel cheated that the former operator will serve just more than a week in jail.
Forty-two-year-old Carla Faye Dick was sentenced yesterday to eight-days in jail and ten years probation. Dick had pleaded no contest to a felony charge of injury to a minor child.
Betty Corntassle is the boy's mother. And Corntassle calls the sentence quote "a joke." Dick was charged in October 1998. Prosecutors allege Dick broke the three-year-old's fingers while bending them back in a disciplinary action she had taken several times before. The child suffered broken fingers on both hands.
