GLENDALE, Calif. (AP) — A 15-year-old boy and a second suspect have been arrested in the schoolyard beating deaths of two teen-agers.
The 15-year-old, whose name was not released, was an acquaintance of the victims and lived just blocks from the crime scene, police spokesman Chahe Keuroghelian said. The boy was arrested Monday.
The second male, whose name and age were not released, was booked Tuesday, Lt. Don Shade said.
The bodies of Christopher Reid McCulloch, 13, and Blaine Steven Talmo Jr., 14, were found Sunday night on a bloody playground at Valley View Elementary School.
A neighbor who spotted the bodies on the other side of his backyard fence said the leg of a concrete bench was on top of one victim's throat and a rock was by the other boy's head.
Investigators have not determined a motive, although they say the beatings are not gang- or race-related.
