DALLAS Jul 25 -- Papers released by the government show the late Dallas Cowboys Coach Tom Landry had a file at the FBI -- not because he was ever investigated, but because twice during his coaching career he received death threats.
The FBI released the files of the late Cowboys coach to WFAA-TV. The most notable death threat came during a game with the Los Angeles Rams in 1986.
An angry man who called seven times claimed Landry would be shot during the game.
Landry left the stadium for a time and then returned to the gridiron wearing a bullet proof vest.
The FBI investigated that incident and one involving a threatening anonymous letter in 1983, but never solved either case.
