FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) -- Arkansas tight end J. Strain will be out for the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee while working out.
Strain, a redshirt freshman from Fayetteville, said his knee blew out Thursday when he planted to make a cut while running a pass route. He expects to have reconstructive surgery in about two weeks.
Coach Houston Nutt expects to move sophomore tackle Nathan Ball to tight end.
"It's a tough deal, boy. He just needs to keep plugging," Nutt said. "Something good is going to happen in life to him."
Strain missed last season with an injured wrist and struggled in high school with ankle injuries.
