A foot injury has sidelined Dan O'Brien. The track and field star won gold
in 1996, and was hoping for a repeat in Sydney.

O'Brien, the game's biggest star injured a tendon in his arch, the tear is
65% of the tendon and he will not be able to compete.

The injury occurred last week while practicing one of his better events, the
javelin. He waited until today to decide whether or not he could go, and
made the announcement late this afternoon in Sacramento, site of the US
Olympic track and field trials.
