(Oklahoma City-AP) -- One can only wonder if Keith Burns' football players think he's hip. He says he tries to be. The new coach of Tulsa's football team likes Prince, tea, white bread and he doesn't like the designated hitter.

Burns says he wants his players to feel comfortable coming into his office and talking about what's important in their lives. Burns admits turning the football program around will be challenging but he says he's betting the university, his coaching staff and his players' attitudes to achieve success. Burns was defensive coordinator at Arkansas before coming to Tulsa. He has also worked at Rice and at Southern Cal.
