(West Lafayette, Indiana-AP) -- Oklahoma State may be losing a baseball recruit but the Pittsburgh Pirates are gaining a prospect.

David Beigh has announced he'll sign tonight with the Pirates. Pittsburgh had taken him in the second-round of the draft.

Beigh had accepted a full scholarship from Oklahoma State and was prepared to pitch for the Cowboys.

Neither Beigh nor Pirates scouting director Mickey White would reveal specifics of the package. But information from the Major League Players' Association indicates that the right-hander will receive at least 500-thousand dollars.

The association indicates the average signing bonus for a 1999 second-round draft choice was 578-thousand dollars. Beigh's contract also will include all costs of a four-year education at the college of his choice.
