(Coweta-AP) -- Searchers recovered the body of Billy Joe Brownfield late Tuesday afternoon downstream from where two boats capsized on the Arkansas River Monday.
Lake Patrol officers say three people were pulled to safety shortly after the accident, but Brownfield did not resurface.
Wagoner County Sheriff's Office official Kurt Dickenson said the first boat capsized when two workers were on their way to check on a barge in a river sand operation.
Dickenson said one person was able to cling to the boat, but the other disappeared in the current. The boat of two men trying to rescue the others capsized also.
Emergency crews rescued the three men, but could not find Brownfield's body until today.
