DODGE CITY, Kan. (AP) — Police escorted Hall of Famer Rick Barry from the court Sunday after he bumped an official during an argument over when the clock started during a United States Basketball League game.
Barry, coach of the Florida Sea Dragons, rushed the court at halftime Sunday in a game with the Dodge City Legend.
Barry went onto the court with six-tenths of a second left in the first half, claiming that the clock started before Florida touched the ball.
He was given a technical foul by one of the officials for coming onto the court. Barry then went toward that official and the two men bumped, apparently accidentally. That meant a second technical foul and automatic ejection from the game.
Dodge City police then came onto the court and escorted Barry away.
Barry was unavailable for comment after the game, which Dodge City won 97-95.
