(Tulsa-AP) -- The Western Athletic Conference doesn't plan to expand after going to ten teams next summer.
The conference, which includes the University of Tulsa, has eight teams currently but will go to nine in July when Nevada joins.
The WAC expands to ten teams on July First, 2001. That's when Texas Christian quits to go to Conference U-S-A but Boise State and Louisiana Tech join the WAC.
WAC presidents have decided for now against going to a 12-team two-division league by adding New Mexico State and Utah State.
Conference leaders say they're disappointed that the WAC has not been invited to join the Bowl Championship Series.
The Mountain West and Conference U-S-A have been invited to be non-voting members of the B-C-S.
The WAC was a 16-team conference but eight teams split off to form the Mountain West Conference two years ago.
