(Sapulpa) -- A man described as quiet by his neighbors was shot and killed Sunday after charging a Sapulpa police officer with a machete.
Authorities say 28-year-old Raymond Lewis Smith Junior died after being shot several times at his Sapulpa home.
Police responded to call at 4:15 pm about a domestic dispute between two brothers and found one of the brothers outside the home.
Police say one officer found Smith inside with a machete. Smith backed the officer out of the house, and the officer tripped and fell off the front porch.
Police say the officers told Smith to drop the weapon several times, but he refused and went toward the downed officer, swinging the machete.
The other officer shot Smith.
Police say they do not know how many times Smith was shot. The identities of the police officers has not been released.
The two officers have been placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation.
