(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Governor Keating is renewing his call to cut car tag costs.

Keating spoke at a state Capitol news conference today. The governor says he has signed the nearly five billion general appropriations bill to keep state government running during the next year.

Now, he says, it's time to pass an auto tag reform measure.

Keating says lawmakers need to focus on returning money to the people who pay for state government services -- the taxpayers.

A Republican car tag bill that would have cut costs by 138 million dollars died in the state Senate. A Democrat-backed bill that would trim costs by eleven million to 13 million dollars is still alive.

Keating says car tag reform should be the Legislature's top priority before it adjourns May 26th.
