Charity suing over phone bill
(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A federal lawsuit has been filed by Oklahoma City-based Feed The Children over long distance telephone services.
Feed The Children is suing M-C-I Worldcom Network Services Incorporated for allegedly overcharging the charity more than $100,000.
The suit alleges that M-C-I began charging Feed The Children a monthly national access fee of $2.75 in April 1998 on approximately 3,600 phone lines.
Feed The Children claims it only had about 55 telephone lines.
Charity officials say M-C-I may have also have overcharged Feed The Children for other service fees.
The charity says M-C-I offered to credit $96,000 to its long distance account in November, but the charity refused t orenew its contract because of the billings. They say M-C-I has refused reimbursement demands.
